Genealogy Lock-down Event at the Gainesville Branch of the Hall County LIbrary!
Friday, September 14th
5:00 pm until Midnight
The Sybil Wood McRay Genealogy & Local History Collection will be open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., so you can arrive early and stay until midnight. At 5:00 p.m. the library doors will close. If you plan to arrive after 5:00 p.m., please call ext.116 for admittance, as the building will be locked. The second floor will remain open until midnight for genealogists. A light supper will be prepared by Memories by HD.
The Sybil Wood McRay Genealogy & Local History Collection offers full online access to the Ancestry Library Edition Database which includes the Federal Census for the United States; Heritage Quest Online; microfilm of Georgia Censuses and accompanying indexes for North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Virginia, and Tennessee censuses. We also have microfilm of local Hall County newspapers starting in the late 1800’s through the present; cemetery records; a Civil War collection; a Native American collection; and an African American collection.
Recent additions have been made to the Maryland, Delaware, and Connecticut resources including a fifty-five volume set of Barbour Collection of Connecticut Town Vital Records. Copies can be made of resources. Visit the online catalog at www.hallcountylibrary.org to plan your search strategy.
